This Bar Has A Mint Julep Secret Menu
Stepping into Rosina in Las Vegas is like getting a private invite into one of Jay Gatsby's parties. There's a sleek black, white and gold art deco vibe to the space, complete with velvet curtain-covered private cabanas and a "Press for Champagne" button that - you guessed it - delivers bubbly on command.
The look makes sense, given that the bar's a short walk from Baz, a play that weaves three of director Baz Luhrmann's most famous adaptations (Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, and The Great Gatsby) at The Venetian. What's most impressive, though, is the bar's secret menu. The secret menu changes every quarter, featuring a handful of riffs on a single cocktail. Right now, it's mint juleps.
Mixologist Sam Ross - who worked on Rosina's menu as well as the neighboring Dorsey - wanted to highlight an underrated cocktail, dreaming up new ways to imagine it, a representative for the brand said. If you tell bartenders you're looking for a mint julep, they'll show you the secret menu, offering up six takes on the drink. There's the classic, featuring bourbon, mint, sugar and crushed ice, as well as varieties infused with apple brandy, pineapple rum, and coffee liqueur, just to name a few.
The one we couldn't get enough of, though, was the Banco De Mexico - a blend of mezcal, a?ejo tequila, creme de cacao and mint, all topped with crushed ice and spritzed with rose water. It's crisp, refreshing, and a little smoky, making it the perfect drink for a night out. Or a night hitting up the Titanic slots. You do you.
