Barack Obama Shares His 2018 Favorites
With just a few days left in 2018, the round-ups and best-of-the-years are in full force. But one list that hadn't yet hit the interweb until this morning: Barack Obama's yearly favorites from his top tunes, favorite reads and the movies he found most pleasant.
The 44th President of the United States has made a tradition of ranking his cultural faves over the past few years, and the 2018 version of his list made its debut this morning on his official Instagram account.

"It gives me a moment to pause and reflect on the year through the books, movies, and music that I found most thought-provoking, inspiring, or just plain loved. It also gives me a chance to highlight talented authors, artists, and storytellers – some who are household names and others who you may not have heard of before," wrote the former President.
As usual, Obama's selections cover a wide range of genres and topics-in other words, it's a thorough cultural education of the year past. For tunes, some of the songs that topped his list were "Ape****" by the Carters, "Mary Don't Weep" by Prince, and "Wait By the River" by Lord Huron.
Looking for some reads to kick off 2019? Well, on Obama's list (obviously) is his wife Michelle Obama's recently released memoir, Becoming, as well as Educated by Tara Westover and the classic Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe.
And if you're hoping to capitalize on some of your time off by catching a few flicks, Obama counted Annihilation, Black Panther, Roma, and Won't You Be My Neighbor amongst his must-sees.
