Barack Obama's Summer Playlist Will Make You Forget You're in Quarantine
Barack and Michelle Obama Joked About Quarantining Together on Her New Podcast
The former POTUS is the first guest on The Michelle Obama Podcast.
Even if social distancing orders have lifted in your neck of the woods, summer 2020 just hasn't been the summer we were all hoping we'd get. Gone are the days of brunching in indoors, air-conditioned restaurants without worry, and unless you're highly privileged, the only dance party you're likely to have right now is a virtual one.
Thankfully, Barack Obama has pulled through with a playlist for the summer that will transport you to the days of sticky dance floors with hundreds of strangers.
On Monday, the former president shared his annual playlist of his favorite songs of the season, writing, "Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time listening to music with my family. I wanted to share some of my favorites from the summer—including songs from some of the artists at this week’s @DemConvention. Hope you enjoy it."

The playlist includes Frank Ocean's "Cayendo," Megan thee Stallion and Beyoncé's "Savage Remix," and Rihanna and Drake's "Work." (It should be stressed, in case you couldn't tell from the inclusion of Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do," that the songs are just ones he's been playing on repeat this summer, not necessarily new releases from the season.)
Also included is The Chicks' (formerly Dixie Chicks) "Gaslighter," which lead singer Natalie Maines has used to speak out against Donald Trump regarding his response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sharing playlists has been something of a tradition for Obama, who also shared his favorite songs of the year in 2019.
Music festivals may be on pause for the moment, but for now, allow this playlist to tide you over until we're all furiously competing for Coachella tickets again.
