Barrio Logan’s Salud Tacos closes its doors
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Mexican eatery Salud Tacos in Barrio Logan has permanently closed its doors.
In an emotional Instagram post that has been met with an outpouring of support by the community, the owners of Salud announced on Friday they were closing Salud and La Bamba immediately after a year of failed lease negotiations.

“After many sleepless nights, after wrestling with many thoughts and emotions, and after much consideration, I have decided to close our doors to Salud and La Bamba as we know it,” the Instagram post reads. Visit Salud’s Instagram for the full announcement.
The Mexican restaurant, dubbed “The King Of All Tacos,” at 2196 Logan Ave near Chicano Park, has been a staple in San Diego’s Historic Barrio Logan for nearly a decade.

The closure announcement has nearly 1,000 comments of support from San Diegans.
Salud’s tacos have been featured on The Food Network, The Travel Channel, in Washington Post, The New York Times and The LA Times, according to their website.

“Salud was lucky enough to be on the cutting edge of the taco movement that has seemed to conquer the rest of the world this last decade,” the post continued.
At one time there were more Salud locations in National City and in Las Vegas, but those branches have since closed. It is unclear what will happen now to the restaurant space in Barrio Logan.
“I wish our predecessors nothing but blessings and success, and hope the best for all the local businesses and owners on the block! We will be watching from the sidelines and rooting for you all,” the post reads.
