Bart Simpson is fashion's latest muse
Bart Simpson, the mischievous cartoon character from the iconic animated television show The Simpsons appeared on the fashion catwalk on Wednesday during Off-White‘s Spring 2019 show during men’s Fashion Week in Paris.
The character was Virgil Abloh‘s muse for his latest menswear collection, which plastered the cartoon star’s face on a white T-shirt and a black ribbed sweater, the latter of which had Bart’s face surrounded by flames, with the tagline, “Who the hell are you?” On another white tee, Abloh printed a picture of the Simpson family’s home, an unmistakeable image for anyone who was a fan of the American cartoon.
The rest of the collection played up Abloh’s signature Off-White streetwear style, featuring plenty of denim jackets, tees, distressed and graffitied jeans, Doc Martens, chain necklaces, and fanny packs.
Among the front row celebs were P. Diddy’s sons Quincy Brown and Christian Combs; NBA player P.J. Tucker; rappers Playboi Carti and Swae Lee; and actor Luka Sabbat.
Abloh, creative director and founder of Off-White (and former creative director for Kanye West), is also the newly appointed artistic director for men’s design for Louis Vuitton; his highly anticipated first LV collection debuts on Thursday in Paris. Within just a few short years, Abloh has become one of the most highly coveted designers, collaborating with major business conglomerates including Ikea, Nike, Rimowa, Heron Preston, Levi’s, Moncler, Jimmy Choo, Kith, and artist Takashi Murakami.
The new Off-White men’s collection is not slated to come out until spring 2019. But you can shop the eight Bart Simpson-branded swag items above for a fraction of the designer prices.
