There's no dearth of mattress options available. For the Men's Health Sleep Awards, we tested a slew to see which gives you the most blissful slumber.

I have a bone to pick with Tempurpedic: its Cloud Supreme Breeze mattress is too comfortable. I know this because since it arrived, I’ve slept through my alarm several times. That’s not the worst problem to have, but still.

My partner would have chosen an even softer mattress-if such a thing even exists-but I lean towards a firmer feel so we compromised and got the Cloud Supreme Breeze. It’s so plush that I added an additional foam topper to help give me a bit of extra support. I still struggle a bit to maneuver my body into position once I’m actually on the bed, but this is an incredibly cozy plight I face.

As to why this is such a comfortable bed, Tempurpedic is known for its proprietary Tempur material, which is open-celled viscoelastic material. Why that scientific-sounding stuff? Temperature control and pressure relief. It offers up both better than any sort of normal foam. Tempurpedic’s Cloud Supreme Breeze is comprised of four layers: a base layer that disperses heat dispersing, a support layer which aims to better distribute body weight, a comfort layer made of even softer material infused with cooling technology, and a cooling cover of breathable fabric with additional cooling fibers to leave you with a cool sleeping surface. ...Cool.

The temperature of the mattress, which retails for $4,499, does indeed feel regulated, even if it doesn’t necessarily feel cool to the touch. I’m a back and stomach sleeper who runs hot, while my partner is a side sleeper who runs cold. Being diametrically opposed in sleep styles meant I was surprised by how quickly we both took to this mattress from night one. The mattress feels comfortable regardless of position, and though I sometimes need to throw a leg out to regulate my temperature, that’s more a product of our bedding than having an overheating situation from the mattress. I do sleep cooler than I did on our old mattress, which did not have any sort of cooling technology.

My partner and I get up at very different times in the morning, and I am never disturbed when she shifts or gets up, so I give this mattress high marks for motion control. My partner said that the only time she is disturbed is when I attempt to hog the bed. Fair.

Unsurprisingly, the edge firmness on the Cloud Supreme Breeze is solid. You can easily sit on the edge of the bed to put on your socks without feeling like you’re sinking into the abyss. We also own a from-the-box mattress (which lives in one of our guest rooms), and you can really tell the difference between the construction, specifically when it comes to the edge firmness. That premium feel is only expanded when coupled with the Tempur-Ergo adjustable base, retailing for $1,898, which we adore.

Customer service and setup was a breeze (heh). Delivery scheduling was flexible and pleasant, and the team who actually delivered and installed the mattress and base were professional and efficient.

We honestly love this mattress and base combo. We show it off to whoever comes to our house and make everyone lay on it. The mattress and base truly compliment each other for a fantastic sleeping-and lounging-situation.
