Go Behind The Scenes At A World Cup Freestyle Event

This past December, the Copper Mountain, Colorado, World Cup went down, drawing a crowd of elite halfpipe and big air skiers seeking to take home some hardware.

MAGMA, a crew of freeskiers, captured the behind-the-scenes of the event.

For some reason, watching elite-level skiing from a vlog perspective puts everything into perspective for me. When you watch a ski movie, you usually get the highlights—powder turns, stomped landings—you know the drill. But hearing the clap of those icy landings and seeing the slams on the big air jump effectively conveys a simple message: competitive skiing has gotten gnarly gnarly.

MAGMA, consisting of skiers Alex Hall and Hunter Hess alongside filmmaker Owen Dahlberg, is back to their winter uploading schedule, dropping shorts like the one you just watched every other Monday.

But MAGMA isn't only known for their short, vlog-style videos. The crew has now released three self-titled films—MAGMA, MAGMA II, and MAGMA III—which feature some of the best skiing around. If you've got the skiing bug and a few spare moments to kill tonight, MAGMA's an excellent place to start.
