Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez Set to Officially Collaborate on New Project
This marks their first joint project since 2003's 'Gigli.'
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez didn't just rekindle their romance—they're also getting ready to work together.
The couple will collaborate on a film for the first time since the infamous 2003 box office flop Gigli.
As announced by Deadline, Affleck and Matt Damon's production company Artists Equity is in final talks to take on sports drama Unstoppable, starring Lopez.
According to the publication, the biopic tells the inspiring story of Anthony Robles, a wrestler born with one leg who became a three-time All-American wrestler and won the 2010-11 NCAA wrestling championship. The movie will be based on Robles' 2012 memoir Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion.
Details on what role Lopez would play haven't been shared yet, but Deadline reported that Jharrel Jerome has been tapped to portray Robles. The film will be directed by Billy Goldenberg, who edited Argo, making his directorial debut.
Affleck and Damon's first production under Artists Equity is the biopic AIR, which premiered at SXSW on March 18.
It tells the story of how then-rookie Michael Jordan and Nike's basketball division formed an iconic partnership to form the Air Jordan brand. AIR shows the major risk Nike made in taking the chance on such a young player, without knowing at the time that he'd go on to become one of the biggest basketball players of all time.
The movie was directed by Affleck and features an all-star cast, including Affleck, Damon, Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, Chris Messina, and Marlon Wayans. AIR arrives in theaters on April 5.
