Ben & Jerry’s New “Justice Remix’d” Flavor Is The Latest Step In The Company’s Criminal Justice Reform Campaign
Ben and Jerry don’t just make ice cream that tastes good—they do good, too. Confused? Allow me to explain. Ben & Jerry’s has teamed up with the Advancement Project National Office, a multi-racial civil rights organization, to raise awareness about criminal justice reform and structural racism. And they do it in a way that also has you enjoying a delicious pint of ice cream.
The newest flavor to join the mission-driven ice cream campaign is called Justice Remix’d. It’s a heavenly combo of cinnamon and chocolate ice cream that is mixed with heaps of cinnamon bun dough and brownie bites. Um, OK. Dare I say that this flavor may rival Half Baked?!
You’ll have to taste it for yourself to decide. The newest Ben & Jerry’s addition can be found at your local supermarket for a limited time and retails for approximately $4-to-$6. It’s also available in scoop shops.
Now let’s get down to the social justice details. Ben & Jerry’s has been using scoop trucks across cities like Saint Louis and Miami to generate conversation about social issues and boost up organizations. They educate the public, send messages to public officials, and hand out free scoops while they’re at it.
“Our approach to creating social change is to raise up the work non-profits are doing on the ground,” said Advancement Project co-founder Ben Cohen: “We bring every resource we have to support them—our business voice, our connection with fans, our Scoop Shop community and of course, ice cream. Somehow, it’s easier to talk about difficult issues over a scoop or two.”
