In the spirit of cosiness and staying indoors during this Christmas period, let’s talk about baths. Any excuse for me, really. I love a good bath, and there are so many great products out there that can switch off your mind and de-stress your body at the end of a busy week.

I’ve always been a big fan of the products by Cotswolds-based brand Ilā. The founder, Denise Leicester, creates some of the most luxurious bath and body products out there – in particular, the Body Scrub for Energising and Detoxifying. Apply this combination of Himalayan salt and citrusy essential oils before you get into a warm bath, then follow by soaking for 20 minutes. It truly smells delicious and invigorating, like a breath of fresh air for the mind. It’s the perfect antidote to a hectic schedule. On Wednesday, Denise launches Ilā Apothecary, a diffusion line of products that bring a sense of calm to your life from morning to night. There are Anti-Panic Drops for your handbag, a blissful bedroom spray called Beat the Blues and an uplifting body oil.

I’ve also been trying the Detox Bath Soak by Living Sea Therapy. This is a lovely Cornish family-run business based on sustainably sourced salt and seaweed from the local coast. You only need a couple of glugs in your bath to make a difference. Whenever I use it, I immediately notice that my skin is softer and better hydrated.

I recently met the two founders of Bloom and Blossom, a gorgeous home-grown brand that creates bath and body products for the whole family. Its latest range is all about encouraging the best- quality sleep that you can get. Step one is switching off with some of the Sleep Night-Time Bath Oil swished into a warm tub. The blend of frankincense, rose geranium and linden blossom is truly delicious. Step two is some pillow spray lighted misted on to your sheets, and step three… well, it isn’t called the Sleep range for nothing. Sweet dreams are indeed made of this.
