From Town & Country

Our column "The Best Room At" offers a glimpse inside some of the most charming, luxurious, and iconic properties around the world.

If being hit by a hurricane wasn’t enough, The Christopher, a standby of five-star luxury on the island of St. Barth had to contend with a fire just before it was slated to open. The good news is the hotel, located in the prestigious and quiet neighborhood of Pointe Milou, has emerged better than ever. The nearly 8 million-euro renovation included updates to the spa and a new fine dining restaurant, Christo Lounge and Restaurant. Here, Olivier Leroy, The Christopher’s general manager who has stewarded the hotel through the last few years, gives T&C the inside scoop on the best room and what’s ahead for the hotel in 2019

The pure lines of the room offer a simple yet refined environment with a Creole feel, made with stone, wood, resin, and gray marble.

What is the starting price?

The Ocean Classic Room starts at 450Eur (approx. $512), while the Ocean Panoramic Suite starts from 1,100 euros (approximately $1,252) per night based on low season.

Returning guests will notice that some things have changed about the hotel post Irma? What would say are some of the most noticeable differences?

Improvements where made throughout the property but we looked to rebuild in the same contemporary design – retaining the same identity that defines The Christopher with a pure and timeless architecture. Most notably, we entirely rebuilt our restaurant and reopened it as Christo Lounge Restaurant featuring a new concept focusing on organic meats and vegetables.

What are you most excited about as you gear up for a busy 2019? What new things are in the pipeline for this year and beyond?

Facing the growing demand for our resort, we are currently building three new luxury villas on the property. Each villa will feature four bedrooms, a private pool, ocean and sunset views, and access to all hotel facilities. Completely open to the ocean, they will have the comforts of a private residence here in Pointe Milou with all the perks of the hotel. We are expecting them to be ready by late 2019.

Book Now The Christopher.
