The Best Way To Thank Your Bestie For Being A Friend Is Buying Them This New 'Golden Girls' Book
One of my favorite parts about being a Golden Girls fan is that I get the opportunity to belt out the words to the theme song "Thank You for Being a Friend" at the top of your lungs at beginning of every episode. Even though I've likely heard it more than a million times, it still pulls at your heart strings every single time.
Originally written by Andrew Gold, the version featured on the beloved NBC sitcom is a cover recorded Cynthia Fee. And I wouldn't blame you if you already started humming it in your head: "Thank you for being a friend / Traveled down a road and back again / Your heart is true / You're a pal and a confidant."
If you're as much as a Golden Girls enthusiast as me, you'll want to purchase the brand-new illustrated book immortalizing the theme song from Julie Houts, who Vogue called "Instagram's favorite illustrator." It belongs on your coffee table, and it obviously belongs on your bestie's coffee table, too.
The grown-up picture book pairs the lyrics of "Thank You for Being a Friend" — written by hand — with stylized illustrations of the four women who have stolen our hearts. We know them as Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia.
I've already ordered two copies of Golden Girls: Thank You For Being A Friend. While you order yours, I'm going to go grab a piece of cheesecake as I finish singing our favorite song: "And if you threw a party / Invited everyone you knew / Well, you would see the biggest gift would be from me / And the card attached would say, 'Thank you for being a friend.'"
