Beyoncé Looks Exactly Like Mom Tina Knowles-Lawson in This Birthday Photo
Beyoncé celebrates her 38th birthday on September 4.
To highlight the occasion, her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, posted a gorgeous photo of them together—and the resemblance is uncanny.
Let’s be honest: The likelihood that September 4 is permanently marked in your head is fairly high, considering just about everyone is a fan of 23-time Grammy-winning superstar Beyoncé. But just in case your calendar didn’t automatically update you this year, we're here to remind you that Queen Bey just turned 38, and no one is as excited to celebrate her as her mother, 65-year-old Tina Knowles-Lawson.
In a new mother-daughter photo, the mother of two (hey, Solange) dedicated an endearing birthday message to her eldest. “38 years ago today you came into my life and I know without a shred of doubt that God sent you!!! I had recently lost my mom and never thought that I could feel that particular kind of love again but 7 months later I was pregnant with you (39 years ago people),” she began.
She continued the Instagram caption with: “The moment I saw you I knew that that was IT!!!! We’ve been the best of friends since then. You have brought me such Joy and pride and love and friendship!!! Your heart is as big as Texas!! You are one of the best moms ever! And I love you soo much … Have the best birthday EVER!!!! Mom.”
The sentiment is very touching—but we’ve got to address the fact that while they’re both uniquely beautiful (and glowing), there’s a striking resemblance made evident in this photograph. Is it the sharp brows? Flawless complexion? Sweet smile-slash-pout? We can’t put our finger on it, but Bey and Ms. Tina look more like sisters than mother-daughter in this snap. Those are some genes.

Beyoncé is notoriously private, but thanks to the magic of the internet we know exactly how she rung in 38: at the Made in America festival last weekend, where “Truth Hurts” singer Lizzo performed for Bey and her husband. Funnily enough, Lizzo shared an image of them backstage, writing in her caption, “Swipe to lose your fu****g mind.”
Yep, we would too.
