Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour Is Also Headed to Movie Theaters
If you weren't able to get your hands on a floor seat for Beyoncé's Renaissance tour this summer (or weren't rich enough to shell out the grand needed for a ticket), then your time to see Miss Carter up close and personal has finally arrived. Queen B announced on Oct. 2, 2023 that she will be releasing a concert film/documentary version of the tour later this year.
The announcement concerning Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé comes on the heels of Taylor Swift making a similar announcement for her concert film: Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which sold out instantly, crashed the AMC website and forced The Exorcist: Believer to bump its release date. It also comes after Barbenheimer broke box office records and sent thousands of movie lovers to theaters dressed on theme. It really is a thrilling time to be alive.
This of course isn't Beyoncé's first visual album. She stunned the world when she dropped the Beyoncé album and visual album in 2013 and she's since made visual albums to accompany both Lemonade and The Gift, both of which she also directed. She also directed her HBO documentary Life Is But a Dream in 2013 and her Coachella performance documentary/concert film Homecoming in 2019. Since there has yet to be a visual album dropped connected to Renaissance, this may serve that purpose.
