'Big Bang Theory' Stars to Reprise Roles for 'Young Sheldon' Finale
'Young Sheldwon'
As Young Sheldon marches towards its series finale, one question on viewers' minds is whether anyone from the Big Bang Theory cast will reprise their roles before the spinoff wraps. Now they have their answer. Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will return as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler in the Young Sheldon series finale airing Thursday, May 16.

Details of the duo's appearance are being kept tightly under wraps, but suffice it to say that news of their return is reason enough to celebrate. The former costars last appeared on screen together in The Big Bang Theory series finale, which aired almost five years ago in May 2019.

This won't be the first time Young Sheldon showed the connective tissue between its world and the world of the Big Bang Theory, which represents Sheldon's eventual reality. (The spinoff's natural end point is the character, played in his youth by Iain Armitage, moving to California for grad school so he can go on to become the adult scientist played by Parsons.) There have been several flash-forward connections throughout the spinoff's seven-season run, as well as one memorable flash-sideways moment in the Season 2 finale that showed Sheldon’s friends as children years before they all meet. And of course, Parsons narrates Young Sheldon as grown-up Sheldon. But there have been fewer crossovers in recent seasons compared to earlier ones.
Which makes news of a Parsons/Bialik reunion, whose characters married in The Big Bang Theory's Season 11 finale, that much sweeter.
