Billy Porter At the Grammys is the Matador Hero We Deserve
We expect nothing but sheer perfection from Billy Porter (See: being carried into the Met Gala by six shirtless men and his tuxedo gown at 2019 Oscars). He's literally playing the Fairy Godmother in the upcoming Cinderella live-action film. Sartorially speaking, we knew the Grammys tonight would not be his first rodeo but what we did not anticipate was an actual rodeo look—if said rodeo was held at The Capitol from The Hunger Games.
Styled by Sam Ratelle, Porter showed up to the Grammys wearing a sparkling blue Baja East jumpsuit dripping in rhinestone fringe with a matching bolero and wide-brimmed hat. It's so good our mind is 100% preoccupied with supplying endless answers to "The Category is..." Selena performing Bailamos! Meryl Streep out-acting everyone in Mama Mia! Kinky (matador) boots! The fringed hat isn't just to block out the view of Joy Villa, either; It moves around automatically, which I assume is powered by Lizzo's tiny bag energy.
No part of his outfit is left untouched because his accessory game is not to be missed— which would be hard to do because he's wearing a diamond spider on his wrist, carrying a bedazzled clutch, and strutting around in glittery platform boots that would put David Bowie to shame. Porter is not nominated for any awards, but we're keen to give him artist of the decade just 26 days into 2020 for this cowboy contribution. He's doing god's work.
