Blake Lively Breaks Rules at Kensington Palace to Fix Her Iconic Met Gala Dress
Blake Lively recently made a somewhat risky move.
While visiting the Crown to Couture exhibit at Kensington Palace in London—where her two-toned Atelier Versace 2022 Met Gala gown is on display—she took it upon herself to fix the placement of a few details on the garment, hopping right over the rope to do so.
In order to complete the task, the Gossip Girl alum can be seen crouched down altering the dress, as evidenced in video footage from the occurrence, which the actress shared to Instagram Stories afterward.

“When you’re the clown who hops over the rope at the museum to fix the exhibit,” text over the video read, in addition to: “Happy almost Virgo season folx.”
Giving insight into exactly what she was trying to achieve, she quipped, “So that you see what the transformation was,” while in the act. Lively turned the inside of the center of the dress—which a Twitter user noted was designed to change in the middle of her original appearance on the red carpet—to face outward, before jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz jumped in to assist.
In the words of another social media user, "Her dress, her rules."
Lively also took time to admire the accompanying accessories Schwartz designed to go along with the look, a jeweled crown and earrings which is also on display at the exhibit.
“This was absolutely surreal. Seeing this crown that we made in Kensington Palace," the newly-minted mom-of-four captioned a follow-up post of her smiling beside a display cabinet. "I still feel like a kid playing dress up every time I get to wear a gown and borrowed jewels out. To see it memorialized like this… just. Wow. Something I’ll never forget.”

The Age of Adaline star's dress appears alongside 200 other pieces at the installation inside Princess Diana's former home, including Lizzo’s 2022 Met Gala Thom Browne look, and Lady Gaga’s 2020 MTV Awards dress, designed by Christopher John Rogers.
The exhibition also features a number of historic pieces, as it aims to tell the story of how red carpet fashion has been influenced by the royals of the Georgian era during the 18th century.
