Blake Lively Gets Real About Screen Time ‘Safety’ for Her Kids: ‘That’s My Responsibility’

Blake Lively is a very hands-on parent, especially when it comes to one thing: keeping her kids safe online. She opened up about her “responsibility” to monitor her kids’ screen time, and it’s an important message for us all!

The Gossip Girl alum, who is mom to James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty 4, and a baby who turns 1 next month with husband Ryan Reynolds, shared a link for the Tappity App for kids on her Instagram story. This app boasts the world’s largest collection of interactive science lessons designed for ages 4-10. These short lessons on hundreds of topics — from space to dinosaurs to the human body and so much more — are made to entertain and engage kids. Tappity App is praised by parents, including Lively, for being a safe app for her children to use.

“This is not an ad. I get nothing out of this. I just love @tappityapp,” the Age of Adaline star wrote on her story, sharing a post by Tappity App offering 40% off your first three months and a free trial. “It’s engaging, informative, fun and they care about safety.”

Lively shared that the app offered “education and fun in one,” jokingly adding, “I’ve learned so much from it myself. See Mom, I knew I didn’t have to go to school for all those years ??.”

That’s high praise coming from someone who is highly protective of her little ones! Lively also revealed that she believes it’s still her responsibility as a parent to monitor what her kids do online. “That said, I’m always triple checking any kids app constantly for safety because that’s my responsibly not an app’s, but I do LOVE this one.”

Last month, Lively opened up about teaching her kids another important lesson: setting boundaries. She shared a viral video by Katie Love, showing Santa’s respectful response to her toddler not wanting to sit on his lap. In the video, Santa recalled telling 3-year-old Adley, “This is her body, and she’s in control of her body.”

“Yeasss ?? ?? ?? ?? Love this ??,” Lively wrote about the video. “and even more for this little girl for knowing her body and her boundaries. ?? ??.”

“Such an important thing for us adults to teach kids,” the A Simple Favor star continued. “Especially this season with so many strangers and even family around. It’s their body. And it’s never a child’s responsibility to make any adult feel good. ??Just bc we had to as kids doesn’t mean we should repeat it as adults.”

Lively is such an involved, caring mom, and we love seeing these insights into how she teaches her kids to be independent, safe, and strong.
