Blake Lively's New Line of Boozy Cocktails Sparks Mixed Reactions

Blake Lively's latest business venture definitely has fans buzzing.

The 35-year-old actress has polarized her fans with the announcement of her new beverage line, Betty Booze, a spinoff from line her of nonalcoholic mixers, Betty Buzz.

The A Simple Favor star recently stirred up mixed reactions from her fans after announcing the boozy new business venture, which seems to have raised eyebrows considering Lively herself is known to abstain from alcohol.

Introducing the new line in an Instagram post, Lively promised alcoholic drinks made from "Homemade recipes. Real fruit. Real ingredients. Quality booze. No crap."

"Also a real time saver. Which is why I really did it," she added.

But fans in the comments were quick to criticize the new product, with one user writing, "How can you market/create a product you don’t openly consume yourself?" under the post.

"So she’s smart enough not to drink alcohol but wants people to spend their $ on alcohol so she can get richer?" someone else wondered.

In the initial Instagram announcement, Lively admitted, "Drinking isn't my thing. But for f* sake, flavor is," which seemed to be her way of addressing the elephant in the room (i.e. the fact that she isn't a drinker.)

The brand further reinforced the idea of the drinks not necessarily being created for Lively herself, since she doesn't drink much. "Enjoyed by...everyone else," read one of the promo posts on the Betty Booze Instagram account, on which Lively commented, "So true ??."

Her pal Gigi Hadid seemed to double-down on this notion, too, commenting on her friend's Insta, "Drinking ain’t your thing but when u make a drink for someone else, best bet they’re having a good time (me, I’m someone else)."

However, Lively's fans didn't seem so convinced about the Gossip Girl alum's marketing tactic, including one person who commented, "What a confusing way to promote your alcohol, by saying drinking isn’t your thing..."

"If drinking really isn't your thing (which you're very vocal about) how about some NA options? Otherwise you're just in it for the money," another skeptic added.

"It's so lame when celebrities who don’t drink suddenly promote alcohol," someone else chimed in.

A similar controversy erupted when Jennifer Lopez—who also famously doesn't drink much—announced her own line of cocktails, sparking backlash for the same reason.
