Bloomington Tuesday farmers' market begins, Segovia joins Woolery market on Saturdays

Summer arrives in Bloomington later this month, and that means more farmers' markets and shops opening in the area. Here are some of the latest developments at some of the area's markets.
The Ellettsville Farmers Market opened for the season on May 25 and will be open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays in the overflow (south) parking lot of Chandler Funeral Home, at 203 E. Temperance St., Ellettsville. Different farm, prepared food and craft vendors will participate each week. Bloomington's Tuesday Farmers' Market opened on June 4 for the 2024 season at the Switchyard Park Pavilion, 1601 S. Rogers St. The market will be open 4-7 p.m. through September. Farm vendors offer locally grown produce and prepared vendors will have locally made, ready-to-eat items. The market will double SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) dollars. To do so, use the Hoosier Works Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card to exchange SNAP benefits for Market Bucks, which are available in $3 increments up to $27.
Paella and many other Spanish and Ecuadorian dishes are available at the Segovia booth at Saturday's Woolery Farmers' Market, open 8 a.m.-noon at 2250 W. Sunstone Drive. Chef and owner Jose David Escobar said his aim is to "gradually introduce Spanish gastronomy to the community." Every month Escobar said he will unveil new specials for customers, introducing flavors from Spain and South America. FARM offers Granfalloon weekend specials
FARMbloomington will continue the celebrations of Hoosier author Kurt Vonnegut during Granfalloon festivities by offering a brunch on June 7-9. A special dish, "Breakfast of Champions," will include two eggs, bacon, local maple and cheddar sausage, biscuit, potato homies, roasted tomatoes and an orange wedge.
Special cocktails available all day Friday brunch through Sunday dinner will be: Cat's Cradle with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, pineapple and orange juice, cream of coconut, Aperol and nutmeg; Slaughterhouse 5, with Ketel One Peach & Orange Blossom Vodka, Fiero, white vermouth, St. Germain and a blood orange garnish; and Deadeye Dick, with New Amsterdam Gin, lime juice, maraschino and green Chartreuse.
Seafood Summer Slam offered by Chef Lee
Chef Lee Rosser will cook up a Seafood Summer Slam that begins 6:30 p.m. July 13 at 338 S. Walnut St. Cost is $75 per person and will include four creative courses featuring a variety of seafood, fish and Chef Lee's special brand of entertainment. For more, go to www.cheflee.us.
