Mayim Bialik as Blossom Russo
Mayim Bialik, the actress behind the title character, Blossom Russo, quickly drew a loyal fan base for the show.
Born in 1975 in San Diego, California, Bialik's passion for acting and academia was evident from an early age.
Bialik's breakout role came in the form of the young Bette Midler in the film Beaches (1988). She also gained recognition for her recurring role in the hit series Webster as well as guest appearances in shows like Facts of Life.

But it was Blossom that catapulted Bialik to stardom. Bialik's portrayal of a teenage girl navigating the ups and downs of adolescence while grappling with complex family dynamics was praised for its authenticity and relatability.
After the show's conclusion, Bialik took a hiatus from acting to focus on her education. She earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA, showcasing her intellect beyond the realm of entertainment. However, she returned to acting, landing various roles in television and film.
Her next big role came in the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory (2010-2019), where she played the role of Amy Farrah Fowler. Her performance earned her several Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Most recently, from 2021-2023, Bialik was a guest host for popular game show Jeopardy. She also starred as the title character Kat in Call Me Kat a sitcom that aired on Fox from 2021-2023.
Did you know? Although she plays the family's youngest child, Bialik is four months older than Joey Lawrence.
Joey Lawrence as Joey Russo
Whoa! Joey Lawrence with his charming smile and undeniable charisma brought the character of Joey Russo to life on Blossom. As Joey Russo, the aspiring musician with a heart of gold, Lawrence became a fan favorite. His on-screen chemistry with Bialik's Blossom added a layer of charm to the show, making their sibling dynamic a highlight of the show.
Lawrence was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was involved in acting and music at a young age. He gained widespread recognition as a child actor in the sitcom Gimme a Break! (1983-1987).
In addition to being an actor, Lawrence was also passionate about music and recorded his first album, self-titled Joey Lawrence, in 1993.
Lawrence also took on various television roles, including a recurring part in Melissa & Joey (2010-2015), where he starred alongside Melissa Joan Hart. In 2022, he competed in season eight of The Masked Singer. In 2023, Lawrence launched a podcast called Brotherly Love with his siblings Andrew and Matthew.
Lawrence has been married three times and has one daughter.
Did you know? Lawrence almost didn’t land the part. Some producers feared that he was a has-been since he already starred in the TV series Gimme a Break!
Jenna von Oy as Six LeMeure in the Blossom cast
Jenna von Oy, with her distinctive laugh and bubbly personality, portrayed Six LeMeure, Blossom's best friend on the show. Six's friendship with Blossom was a central element of the series, and von Oy's portrayal endeared her to audiences. Her comedic timing and chemistry with the rest of the cast contributed to the show's success.
Born in 1977 in Danbury, Connecticut, von Oy began her acting career at a young age. She made a name for herself with guest appearances in various television shows, including Kate & Allie and Saved by the Bell.

After Blossom, von Oy continued to act, taking on roles in both television and film. Notably, she played the character Stevie Van Lowe in the popular sitcom The Parkers (1999-2004). She also appeared in a variety of shows including Cold Case, Family Guy and most recently Call me Kat (2020).
Did you know? Von Oy had some competition for the role of Six. Jada Pinkett Smith also auditioned for the part. At the time, Pinkett Smith was 18 and the character Six was 12.
Michael Stoyanov as Anthony Russo in the Blossom cast
Michael Stoyanov portrayed Anthony Russo, Blossom's older brother, in the series. Born in 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, Stoyanov began his career in comedy and writing before stepping into the role of Anthony on Blossom.
Prior to Blossom, Stoyanov was a writer and performer on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (1989-1991). His background in comedy laid the foundation for his portrayal of the humorous and often misguided Anthony Russo.
Stoyanov's portrayal of Anthony added a comedic element to the show, as his character navigated the challenges of adulthood while living under the same roof as his younger sister. The dynamic between Anthony and Blossom showcased the complexities of sibling relationships and provided moments of both humor and heart.
After Blossom, Stoyanov turned to writing and worked on Mad TV and Mr. Show. He didn’t abandon acting, though. He appeared in various television shows, including Quantum Leap, and also in movies, including The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

Did you know? Stoyanov left Blossom in 1993 in order to write for Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He said it was a decision that he later regretted. He left Late Night within a year.
Ted Wass as Nick Russo in the Blossom cast
The role of Nick Russo, Blossom’s dad, was played by Ted Wass.
Wass was born in Ohio in 1952 and had his big break playing Danny Dallas on Soap (1977-1981). After that, he had roles in many films including Curse of the Pink Panther and Sheena.
After Blossom ended, Wass switched from acting to directing. He directed several shows including Spin City, The Big Bang Theory and Caroline in the City.
Did you know? Wass returned to acting when he reunited with Bialik as her father in Call Me Kat (2022).
