What’s in the blue box on an Algiers Point sidewalk?
ALGIERS POINT, La. (WGNO) — It’s another beautiful day in the New Orleans neighborhood when Becky Hicks rolls down the sidewalk.
She’s on her way to stock up the blue box of a bite-sized supermarket she set up.
It’s on Opelousas Avenue. And it’s in Algiers Point.

WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood is there.
The Algiers Point Free Lil Pantry was New Orleans’ first. And it’s been around now for seven years.
That’s how long Hicks has been traveling down the sidewalk with a cart full of food. And other supplies of whatever somebody in the neighborhood might need.
It’s open to whoever needs something. And open to whoever wants to donate something.
Take what you need. Leave what you can.
You can find it online.
