Blue Ivy Carter Just Won a BET Award

Blue Ivy Carter is officially the youngest person to win a BET Award. On Sunday night, the 8-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z took home the BET Her award for her collaboration with Beyoncé on the song "Brown Skin Girl" which appears on the album The Lion King: The Gift.

Amazingly, this isn't the first win for Blue Ivy this awards season. The song also won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriters’ Award at the 2019 BET Soul Train Awards and the Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration award at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards.

While this was a huge night for Blue Ivy's potential budding career in music, it was also special for her mother. Michelle Obama awarded Beyoncé the Humanitarian Award at the event telling her, "To my girl, I just want to say you inspire me." In an acceptance speech dedicated to the Black Lives Matter movement, Beyoncé said, "Your voices are being heard and you're proving to our ancestors that their struggles were not in vain. Now we have one more thing we need to do to walk in our true power and that is to vote. I'm encouraging you to continue to take action. Continue to change and dismantle the racist and unequal system."

Earlier in the weekend, Beyoncé released the trailer for her new visual album "Black Is King" on Disney+. According to a release, BET Award-winning artist Blue Ivy Carter will indeed appear on the album.
