Parisian menswear brand Bluemarble has launched a new out-of-this-world shoe for fall – the Odyssey Boot.
First spotted on the brand’s fall 2024 runway show during Paris Fashion Week Men’s in January, the new boot style is an engineering feat. Taking cues from the design of moon boots, the Odyssey Boot aims to redefine explorer footwear with a unique detachable upper that’s adorned with hiking-inspired trim. This removable feature, the brand noted, allows the wearer to transform the boot into a slipper, for the ultimate two-in-one shoe.
Available in earthy brown and metallic silver colorways, the overall space-inspired design features a textured black crepe sole and an interior that is lined with faux shearling. Plus, the upper section, which is made of faux leather in the silver colorway and suede in the brown colorway, is laced to the lower part with D-ring eyelets.
Anthony Alvarez, founder and creative director of Bluemarble told FN that the new boots are the result of wanting to create a shoe that “transcend the bounds of Earth.”
“Inspired by the spirit of Apollo 11, the boot reflects humanity’s drive towards space as is an invitation to exploring the boundless possibilities of our collective journey into the unknown,” Alvarez said. “It’s a unique crossover between a funky slip-on and a hiking boot. We wanted to create a shoe that pairs innovation with comfort, giving adventurers a versatile base for any terrain, whether here on Earth or among the stars.”
Bluemarble’s new Odyssey Boots, which retail between 590 euros and 690 euros, can be purchased on Bluemarbleparis.com and at selected retailers worldwide.
This launch comes just months after Bluemarble debuted a shoe collaboration with Italian footwear company Diemme. The shoes, which launched in March, first debuted during the Bluemarble spring 2024 season runway show in June 2023. For this tie-up, Bluemarble continued its convertible footwear idea with Diemme’s Maggiore shoe, which featured hiking eyelets and an exaggerated tongue that can be worn with the shoe or removed.
And more shoes are on the way from the Paris-based brand. In its spring/summer 2025 show in June, the company debuted the all-new Bluemarble loafer. Described as “polished by punk,” the style features a turned-over tongue, metal coils and a signature plaque along the heel – in patina-effect brown, ivory and crimson colorways.
