Bobby Flay is reviving an age-old debate around the best way to have your meat cooked.
The celebrity chef recently visited the Today show, making a bold declaration about how he, personally, prefers to enjoy his steak at medium temperature versus medium rare.
"I think medium is actually a better temperature than medium-rare," he stated, met by surprise from the broadcast's cohost, Craig Melvin. "And I will tell you, a lot of my chef friends, they might not admit it on the internet or on the Today show, but they feel the same way. Trust me on this."
An elated Al Roker spoke up immediately, declaring, "Bobby Flay speaks truth!" a clear sign that he wholeheartedly agrees with the admission.
Not long after, Savannah Guthrie followed up on the opinion, concurring that she, also, does not like "a bloody steak." She added that she generally feels forced to say "medium-rare" because people "give you the stink eye if you don't," while Melvin chimed in, "People judge you."

The restauranteur even shared his experience with being second-guessed while out ordering food at eateries. "When I order a steak or a burger at a restaurant and I say medium, they're like 'Are you sure?'" he said, shooting a side-eye facial expression.
"I'm like, 'Yeah, I want it medium,'" Flay pressed on, continuing to reassure the group of hosts with "I find it to be more satisfying."
Following the show, a clip of the exchange was shared via Instagram, alongside the caption, "How do you order your meat cooked?" in part.
It added: "Chef Bobby Flay caused a stir online after he said he prefers meat cooked to 'medium' over 'medium rare.' But the TODAY anchors didn't seem to understand what the fuss was about, agreeing with Flay that "medium" is the way to go."
Viewers lit up the comment section with their own opinions about how meat should be cooked.
"I like medium rare. If someone says well done I side eye them lol," one stated, while another agreed, "Medium is always overcooked. They cook the flavor out of it. Medium rare is best for me."
Others took the side of the TV personalities, writing things like, "Medium is the besttt!" and "Medium is my preferred as well."
"Medium well if it’s done to perfection. Usually they overcook medium well steaks and you get it well done, which I HATE. Maybe I should try medium & see how I like it ?? ??," someone else offered.
An additional Instagram user chimed in with "Rare to mid rare or it's just rubber to me. I love rare steaks."
Someone else wrapped up all the banter sarcastically, pointing out, "How about this. Order it how ya like it. Crazy idea right. It may catch on."
The way we see it, it could all be so simple—to each his (or her) own!
