Fans are heartbroken after hearing about Bobby Flay's loss.
The Food Network star shared that his beloved cat Nacho, who became a celebrity in his own right on social media, has died.
In an Instagram post shared on the morning of Oct. 17, the celebrity chef wrote, "It is with an absolute broken heart that I report Nacho has passed away peacefully." Flay noted that he doesn't "post private family business" but he made the saddening announcement because Nacho "was everyone's cat in some way."
He then shared insight into his bond with the Instagram-famous cat, writing, "Nacho had a magic about him that was truly special. He came into my life when I needed him most and brought joyful moment after joyful moment to my household."
The Beat Bobby Flay star continued: "As any cat parent will tell you, the communication between you and your kitty is real and Nacho’s inclusiveness in our home inspired me to create something that would nourish cats everywhere."
He admitted that his "only soothing thought" is knowing that Nacho's legacy "will live on forever" through Flay's cat food brand inspired by the Orange Maine Coon, Made by Nacho.
Flay closed his statement by urging pet parents to "give your pets an extra long hug today" and "say a short prayer for Nacho," as pets "mean so much to all of us."
