Milan-based Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta has officially opened their Tokyo flagship store; the largest location in all of Asia. The six-story, 8,600-square-foot retail space showcases an extensive range of products, including women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, handbags and luggage, eyewear, shoes, fragrance, jewelry, and home and furniture collections.

Even before you enter the building, an impressive facade–which echoes an intrecciato weave, made from 900 “lunar” metal panels–will lead you inside. The flagship’s aesthetic is an ode to the modernist character of Japan, where Bottega Veneta has considerable clientele. “We genuinely value our loyal clients in Japan which continues to be one of our most important markets in the world,” says Bottega Veneta CEO Claus-Dietrich Lahrs.

The building’s exterior architecture–which feels equal parts au courant and a form of the future–transitions into a luminescent and geometric interior, inspired by Light and Space artists of the 1960s. The design is sort of hybrid of zen retreat and dreamy luxury, immersing shoppers in a world of greenery and natural oak floors, paired with formal angular windows framed by inclined, folding plaster. A nod to both the local and Italian traditions, pleats and folds in the interior architecture reflect sunlight throughout the day, changing the color and overall ambience of the space.

Signature blush-toned couches and Italian travertine marble are woven throughout the pale-hued, minimalist store, with display tables made from hammered honeycomb oak inspired by traditional Japanese workmanship. The entirety of the flagship is decorated with the Bottega Veneta Furniture collection, including a variety of pieces exclusive to the Tokyo location.

“With a comprehensive selection in a unique and beautifully designed environment, the Ginza flagship is an investment in elevating and enhancing the shopping experience of our Japanese clients, and customers throughout Asia," says Lahrs.
