PARIS — Bottega Veneta’s new eponymous fragrance collection, comprised of five scents, was developed to be the essence of the house.

Due out Wednesday, it is the first major product launch to be unveiled by Kering Beauté since the division began in January 2023.

The perfumes were developed under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy, Bottega Veneta’s designer, for whom this marks a first step in fragrance.

The multisensorial project might have been fast-tracked, conceived in less than two years, but it crystalizes Bottega Veneta’s elevated positioning. Fine ingredients and craftsmanship make up each fragrance, which helps expand the fashion brand’s universe.

Blazy was inspired by Bottega Veneta’s origins — Venice — and its history as a cross-cultural hub.

Take the refillable bottles that are reminiscent of artisanally hand-blown Murano creations — a craft integrated into Blazy’s fall 2024 show space. The flacons’ undulating forms are evocative of the Venetian Lagoon and Bottega Veneta’s undulating design.

For the gold-colored ring around the flacon’s neck, Blazy had in mind designs by Carlo Scarpa, the late Venetian architect.

The wooden caps — winking to Venetian palazzos’ foundations — come in colors such as red, ecru and green, and are lined in cork. No glue or cellophane is used in the folding cardboard outer packaging.

The bottles sit on bases made of Verde Saint Denis marble, which has for centuries been used in Venice to build churches and palazzos, and Blazy has employed in Bottega Veneta stores.

For the fragrances’ conception, he nodded to the brand’s signature intrecciato leather weave. Each eau de parfum contains at least two main ingredients woven together, which then morph further on wearers’ skin. Each of the wholly natural scents contains vetiver.

Putting them altogether, the names of the fragrances comprise a sort of narrative. They include: Come With Me, with notes of Italian bergamot and French orris butter; Acqua Sale, containing a note of Spanish labdanum and Macedonian juniper oil; Colpo di Sole, with French Angelica oil and Moroccan orange blossom absolute; Alchemie, containing Brazilian pink pepper and Somalian myrrh notes, and Déjà Minuit, with notes of geranium from Madagascar and Guatemalan cardamom.

The scent are to be launched first in about 100 Bottega Veneta stores, starting with the western world, some parts of Asia and e-commerce. That will be followed in April 2025 by a more extensive rollout, especially in North Asia, and in the brand’s own stores, which totaled 301 at the end of June.

In Europe, a 100-ml. eau de parfum sells for 390 euros.
