Call out of work, pretend you’re sick, and do whatever you have to do, because you’ll need time to process this news: Urban Decay is discontinuing its iconic Naked palette.

Urban Decay’s Naked palette was my first “good” eyeshadow palette. Before that, I was at the mercy of $4 eyeshadows. The perfectly colored satin, matte, and shimmering finishes, along with the double-sided brush, made for a great neutral palette that allows you to create a wide range of looks. Because the product is so popular, the million-dollar question is: why are they getting rid of it?

“Saying goodbye to Naked is extremely bittersweet, it was a big moment in our history,” Wende Zomnir, founding partner of Urban Decay, said in a press release. “It’s a little painful to leave your past behind, but it’s also essential to always evolve. I will forever miss Naked, but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in Naked’s memory and honor - just wait and see.”

There's a funeral being held in the Naked palette’s honor in Newport Beach, California, on August 23, and Nicole Richie will be giving a eulogy. Talk about dramatic (just like the looks we created with this palette *tear*).

The palette has been so popular since its 2010 launch that it’s prompted Naked2, Naked3, Naked Ultimate Basics, and Naked Heat spinoffs, as well as Naked Basics, Naked2 Basics, Naked Petite Heat, and Naked Skin. There’s no word if these palettes are sticking around or not, but let’s hope that Urban Decay wouldn’t break our hearts more than once in a year.

There's some good news here though. Urban Decay has made the Naked palette 50% off on their website, at all Urban Decay stores, and at all retailers where they're sold. Instead of its normal $54 price tag, it’s cut down to $27. If this news is truly going to make you change up your morning makeup routine, stock up on the palette now!
