Country star Brad Paisley, 51, and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, 52, are giving back over the holidays with a uniquely generous project.
After opening The Store in 2020, which is a year-round free grocery store for people in Nashville, Tennessee, who live below the federal poverty line, the couple decided to offer a free toy store this holiday season to give 400 families an opportunity to provide special gifts for their children.
Paisley told the Associated Press of the toy store venture, "The emotional aspect of being able to give your child something your child wanted versus just something to sort of get you through the holidays, that’s such a load off the minds of somebody who maybe didn’t think they were going to be able to do that."
Williams-Paisley also commented on the new toy store and The Store in Nashville, saying, "People come on hard times and we want this to be a safe, welcoming place for everybody, whether you’re volunteering or whether you’re needing the services. It’s just a community and we’re all in it together."
The Store receives donations from various organizations and the community, while Belmont University, where Paisley graduated, also works with the project to supply other services like events focused on medicine management and financial literacy.
Paisley shared a video from the toy store on Instagram to celebrate the event, and fans were in awe at the couple's generosity and care.
"This is so wonderful!! You and Kim are amazing, sweet, and wonderful souls to do this for people," wrote one fan, as another commended the couple, saying, "You two are using your platform for a real purpose; thank you!"
Despite all the good work The Store has done so far, Williams-Paisley emphasized that they still need a lot of help: "We’re still not serving everybody that we want to serve. Food insecurity is on the rise. The USDA just released its report saying 17 million households in this country are facing food insecurity and that’s on the rise from 2021."
"There’s so much we want to do. And really like the toy store has shown us that we can keep going and we can keep expanding and growing," she concluded.
