Brad Pitt, 58, Just Shared Some Hot Takes on ‘Anti-Aging’ Skincare
  • Brad Pitt, 58, said in a recent interview that the term “anti-aging” is “ridiculous.”

  • “I don’t want to be running from aging. It’s a concept we can’t escape,” he said.

  • The actor recently launched his own genderless skincare line, Le Domaine.

Brad Pitt doesn’t want to run from aging, and he wants others to embrace the aging process, too. In a recent Vogue interview, Pitt, 58, discussed his newly launched genderless skincare line, Le Domaine, and how he feels about the common skincare buzzword “anti-aging.” Spoiler alert: He’s not a fan.

“Something we discussed [in founding Le Domaine] was this headline of ‘anti-aging.’ It’s ridiculous. It’s a fairy tale,” he said. “But what is real is treating your skin in a healthy manner. And it’s something I’ve learned to do for my business, but it kind of makes you feel better.”

As a person who’s spent decades in the spotlight, Pitt knows the pressure to appear young all too well. “I don’t want to be running from aging. It’s a concept we can’t escape, and I would like to see our culture embracing it a bit more, talking about it in those terms,” he said.

And while that perspective is inspiring, you might be thinking: Do we really need another celebrity skincare line? It’s hard to tell, but Pitt feels passionate about breaking into the “anti-anti-aging” business.

“I think that we’re learning that if we love ourselves, if we treat ourselves a little better, then there are long-lasting benefits to that,” he mused. “So just age healthy, age in a healthy manner.”

And that doesn’t require a bunch of complicated products or a 10-step skincare routine. Pitt revealed that his personal regimen is very low maintenance, but that’s all he would divulge. “I grew up with a country mentality, kind of, you know, Dial soap once a day and then move on,” he said. So it’s safe to say that the Bullet Train star won’t be showing us how to gua sha anytime soon.

The actor, who owns Chateau Miraval, a French winery known for its rosé, joined forces with the Perrin family, who also produce his wine, to create Le Domaine, which currently sells only four (very pricey) products. Each bottle is sealed with wooden caps recycled from old wine casks, and three of the four products are refillable. The line is also 96% natural, vegan, and sustainable, per the brand’s site.

“The older I get, the more I think about quality of life, and time expenditure,” Pitt said, referring to how he wants to prioritize the rest of his life. He’s much more concerned about spending time with friends and family than reprising the Benjamin Button look. In fact, he told Vogue that it wasn’t at all strange to see himself aged by prosthetics in the 2008 film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. “I was kind of fascinated by it,” he said.

So, the next time you spot a wrinkle or line in the mirror, instead of sneering or worrying, take a page out of Pitt’s book and try saying: “That’s fascinating.”
