Brandi Carlile in concert and more to do this week in the Canandaigua area

We’re not sure if it was Aristotle, Confucius or Plato who said the following, or perhaps it was none of the above.

But someone said the busier you are, the faster time flies. It’s true. Because if this last week of June is any indication, then July will be here before we know it.

Here’s what’s happening this week.

1. Take a Zumba class in Canandaigua

Hannah Farley will lead a free Zumba group exercise class from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Wood Library, 134 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Zumba combines dance, strengthening exercises and balance with high-energy music to get the heart pumping and body moving. Bring sneakers and water. 2. Hey kids; document your summer adventures

The program “Adventure Journals with Jess” will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Wood Library, 134 N. Main St., Canandaigua. For ages 5-11, participants will learn how to recycle materials to make a small book from scratch to record summer adventures. 3. Learn about the Guiding Eyes for the Blind program in Victor

This program will be held at 6 p.m. June 26 at Victor Farmington Library, 15 W. Main St., Victor. Participants will learn how Guiding Eyes dogs are bred, raised, trained and more. 4. Read with pride at Wood Library

5. A day of reading at Victor Farmington Library

The Victor Farmington Library Readathon will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Victor Farmington Library, 15 W. Main St., Victor. 6. Listen to the country sounds of Flint Creek Band in Victor

The Flint Creek Band will perform from 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 27 at Victor Municipal Park, 6680 Paparone Drive, Victor. The band performs modern country hits and a few classics. The free, all ages show is part of the Sid Partington Memorial Concert Series. Bring your own chairs and blankets. The Meat the Press food truck will be available.

7. Ontario County Historical Society focuses on photos

The Ontario County Historical Society is hosting an opening reception for its newest exhibit from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 28. "From Studio Portraits to Snapshots: Stories Captured on Film in Ontario County" will highlight the history of photography, photographers of Ontario County, and photographic processes up to 1960. The exhibit was researched and produced by Wilma Townsend, curator at the Historical Society. This year, there will be several interactive elements for guests of all ages to enjoy. Visitors will be able to take their own pictures in a replica studio, experience a stereoscope from the Historical Society’s collection, listen to an interview with Peggy Stewart and watch videos on photographic processes. The exhibit will also feature a curated collection of historical photographs from throughout the county, portraits by Peggy Stewart, photographs by Augustus Coleman, a timeline of cameras and early photographic equipment. Admission to the museum is free. The exhibit will run through April 2025.

8. Music Among the Stacks at Wood Library

Bec and the Bopcats will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Wood Library, 134 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Kick off your shoes and boogie to rockabilly music from the 1950s to today. 9. Ontario County offers free rabies clinic

A free rabies clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 29, at the Ontario County Public Works building, 2962 County Road 48, Canandaigua. Animals must be healthy and at least 3 months old. Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier. No more than four pets per person. Please bring a past rabies certificate, if any. 10. Brandi Carlile to perform at CMAC

Brandi Carlile is scheduled to perform June 29 at Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center, 3355 Marvin Sands Drive. Doors open at 6 p.m. The nine-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, performer, producer, bestselling author and activist is known for songs "The Joke," "Letter to the Past," "Every Time I Hear That Song" and others.
