From Cosmopolitan

The completely deranged mating ritual known as The Bachelorette is over, which means there's officially NOTHING good about Mondays anymore. You know, except for Bachelor in Paradise. But before you drown in a sea of roses and sorrow-fear not: there's a light at the end of this tunnel. And that light is called:

The show's new season is still in its nascent stage, so we can only speculate about which random ghost of Bachelorettes past will get served up to the next fleet of single ladies who definitely aren't trying to become famous.

As any card-carrying member of Bachelor Nation knows, ABC typically picks a fan-favorite from the preceding season to be their next star. And since Bachelorette Becca Kufrin chose Garrett Yrigoyen to be her personal Prince Charming, that leaves rejects Blake Horstmann, Jason Tartick, and Colton Underwood. So, who will be the next Bachelor? Let's break it down.

THE CONTENDERS

COLTON UNDERWOOD

Pros: He's handsome, he's sweet, he's virginal. And as we all know, The Bachelor loves a virgin! Also, he's friends with this dog, so....

Cons: Colton has a starring role on Bachelor in Paradise, a total clusterf*ck of a show that will likely bring out his messy side-meaning he's not quite as likely a contender (in my opinion) as Blake and Jason.

BLAKE HORSTMANN

Pros: Blake seems super thirsty for the role already, telling audiences during ABC's After the Final Rose special, "I’m not going to be scared now of falling in love again. My person is still out there and I’m never going to apologize for how hard I love." Wow. Subtle.

Cons: He seems way too in love with Becca to be able to move on so quickly. Like...the dude is BEREFT.

JASON TARTICK

Pros: Becca is clearly rooting for Jason, and keep in mind that she has the ear of ABC. In fact, ya girl went ahead and told Good Morning America, "I have a soft spot for Jason. He would be so open to all the girls on the journey."

Cons: Jason didn't make it to the finals, which means he didn't get to make as lasting an impression on fans. Actually JK, he became unforgettable the moment he sensually used chopsticks:

BEN HIGGINS

Surprise! Former Bachelor Ben Higgins wasn't a contestant on Becca's season, but his name is being floated as a potential choice for ABC's new reality TV king. Of course, this would be his second time strolling around the mansion, so...

Pros: People love him, he's been the Bachelor before, and he's a genuinely good dude (even his ex Lauren likes him!). Plus, he'll bring in high ratings because he's such a fan favorite.

Cons: It might be time for some fresh blood. Soz, friend.

WILL THE NEWS BE LEAKED?

Good question. For the answer, we turn to bona fide Bachelor whisperer Reality Steve, who is mostly here to remind us that we won't know who The Bachelor is until ABC is ready to tell us. And remember: they've been known to trick people. Mr. Steve breaks it down:

We will not know until the announcement. And considering they lied to people in the past telling them it would be them, filming their intro videos, having their flights booked to come to LA, I seriously doubt that’s gonna change. [...] Do you realize that Arie flew out to GMA the night before the announcement was made? He did not know until he boarded the plane, and even then in HIS mind, he thought they were bringing another guy out there and they’d screw him at the last minute. So just giving you a heads up that finding out who the next 'Bachelor' is beforehand nowadays is pretty much the only secret this show is able to keep. Because when you tell multiple guys it’s gonna be them, how is anyone supposed to decipher which one it actually goes to?

WHEN WILL ABC ANNOUNCE THE NEW BACHELOR?

Per Reality Steve, ABC announced their last three Bachelors in late August/early September:

Ben [Higgins] and Nick [Viall] were both announced during 'After Paradise' at the end of August. Arie was announced on GMA on Sept. 7th. I’m guessing that’s when the announcement will be. They like to keep the same kind of timeline on these things. Gives people the whole month of August to debate it and keep the show in the pop culture discussion.

Welp, there you have it! Tell us who should be the next Bachelor below:
