Brian Austin Green Gives Update on 'Resilient' Shannen Doherty
Brian Austin Green is sharing some positive news regarding Shannen Doherty's battle with stage 4 cancer.
"She's doing great," the 50-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 alum told E! News reporters while promoting Fox's Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.
"She's resilient. I mean, if anybody that I know is going to have to deal with what she's dealing with, she's the one that can get through it," he added.
Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. After going into remission, her cancer returned in 2017.
Fast forward to earlier this summer, Doherty, 52, revealed that she learned her breast cancer had metastasized, or spread, to her brain. Six months after she received the CT results, which showed mets on her brain, she shared the difficult news with fans on social media.
"January 12, 2023," she began in the caption of her June 6 Instagram Reel. "On January 5th, my ct scan showed Mets in my brain. Yesterdays [sic] video was showing the process of getting fitted for the mask which you wear during radiation to your brain."
Doherty's statement continued, "January 12, the first round of radiation took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at cedar sinai. But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like."
Days after sharing her story, the Heathers actress posted another update, a behind-the-scenes of preparing for surgery over the winter to remove a tumor in her head, caused by her metastatic breast cancer, describing the fear as "overwhelming."
In the months since, Doherty appears to have fully recovered from her recent surgery, enjoying date nights, days on the boat and even celebrating Green's birthday this past July.
