Brian Austin Green and Sharna Burgess Are Engaged

Brian Austin Green and Sharna Burgess are engaged. Or, in parlance a true Beverly Hills, 90210 fan will understand: She chose him.

The couple revealed the news on the Sept. 22 episode of their dishy iHeartRadio podcast, Oldish. "We've been engaged for two months," Burgess said, adding that Green popped the question at his surprise 50th birthday party in July, just a year after their son Zane turned one.

"I was like, 'That's a perfect place to do it. She'd never see it coming,'" the 90210 alum said. He made the proposal a family affair, inviting the three kids he shares with ex Megan Fox—Noah, 10, Bodhi, 9, and Journey, 7—to play a role in the occasion.

"We head into our bedroom and I start to get these feelings of like, 'Oh my god,'" Burgess said. "He's like, ‘Hey, kids come here.' And the kids come in with him and Noah is holding Zane and Journey is holding this little red Cartier box."

Green chose to propose on behalf of the whole family, "'Would you spend the rest of your life with us?'" Burgess remembered him asking.

"Of course I said yes and I put that ring on my finger," she shared. "I hugged all of them and it was the most perfect, beautiful moment because it was us. It was our unit, our tribe—and I love that that's how he wanted to do it."

The couple started dating in December 2020, after they were set up by a mutual business manager. But, Burgess said, "there was no rush" to marry.

Still, Green thought it "seemed like the next, easy progression."

"If you want to keep things moving forward and moving ahead, that's just part of the step," he said. "I have this grand vision—like, at the end of it—for Sharna to be able to share a last name with all of us. That's the end goal of all of it, so this is just part of the process."

Indeed, Burgess says, she plans to change her name upon marriage. "My bonus babies and Zane, they are my babies. I wouldn't have it any other way," she said. "My last name will be Green...and it makes me so happy."
