This Bride Took Her Own Wedding Photos and They're Stunning
Many brides shell out thousands of dollars for expert wedding photography. But when 29-year-old Liisa Luts of Tallin, Estonia, got married August 28, she decided to take the low-maintenance route and photograph the wedding herself, the results offering an intimate portrayal of the wedding day.
"My husband and I knew we don't want to 'plan a wedding,' we just wanted to make it legal and celebrate a bit," Luts told Cosmopolitan.com. "So I decided that I'll take photos from the moment I wake up until we get back home again to really get the bride's perspective of the whole day instead of a beautiful gallery from someone third's perspective."
Luts and her husband run a small company specializing in video, photography, and animation called Mellow, but chose to leave their professional camera at home and use their personal digital camera to make things easier.
"I just snapped photos every now and then and didn't plan or stage anything and captured [moments] as honestly and straightforwardly as possible," she said. "It's just a day and we have a lot of married days ahead of us. That's also why I didn't worry about capturing 'the most important moments' or 'missing something.'"
Luts posted the photos online, where they quickly went viral, many people praising her for reminding everyone that a wedding day is supposed to be about celebrating love, not crafting the perfect photos for Instagram. But Luts stresses that she's not trying to make any kind of social statement.
"Overall I think that everyone should make their own decisions whether to get married at all, and how to celebrate that day if they do," she said. Check out her beautiful shots below:
