In a potent crossover blend of American politics and reality TV, Bristol Palin, daughter of 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, has signed on to become the newest cast member of MTV’s Teen Mom OG.

This will be Bristol Palin’s third reality TV show. The mother of three first appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2010 and then had her own Lifetime show in 2012, Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp, which reviewers called a “weird, miserable reality show.”

According to TMZ, Palin was signed after Teen Mom Farrah Abraham was fired from the show because she was difficult to work with (Abraham contests this explanation, saying that she was let go because she was an adult film star). However, technically, Teen Mom 3’s Mackenzie McKee has already replaced Abraham.

Palin will be joining Teen Mom OG’s cast members Amber Portwood, Maci Bookout, and Catelynn Lowell.

Palin, now 27, had her first child, Tripp, when she was 17, with her former fiancé, Levi Johnston.

Her second child, a girl, was born when Palin was 25. Announcing that pregnancy in 2015, she said that the news would come as a “huge disappointment” to her friends and family. Her third child, also a girl, was born two years later. She shares custody of her daughters with her husband, former Marine Dakota Meyer, whom she married in 2016. Meyer filed for divorce in February, but the two have since reconciled.

Already, the casting sounds like it will be a solid hit for MTV. We are wondering whether Bristol’s mother, Sarah Palin, will make a guest appearance, but after being burned by agreeing to an interview with Sacha Baron Cohen, the former governor of Alaska may be a little camera-shy.
