Britney Spears Clears Up Confusion About Worrisome Video With Knives
Britney Spears' dancing videos tend to be a wholesome way for her to have fun, but the pop icon's latest Instagram Reel showing off her moves left fans worried.
In the clip, the 41-year-old twirled in a crop top and bikini bottoms with two butcher knives in her living room, while feet away from her pups. She initially captioned her post, "I started playing in the kitchen with knives today ?????♀??????♀??????♀? !!!"
Since the singer's comments on Instagram were deactivated, fans took to Twitter to share their concerned reactions.
Some believed the video was proof that Spears isn't mentally fit to take care of herself and needs supervision.

Someone else pointed out that Spears seemed to be inspired by Shakira's 2023 VMAs performance, in which she used prop knives.

After the video went viral, Spears updated the caption, noting, " Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon ?????? !!!"
However, in the Reel, the singer bangs the knives together, making the same noise that the sharp objects make when there's friction between them. The reflection of the light on the knives also shows that they're not made out of rubber, like most fake weapons sold for Halloween. Additionally, the ridges and handles are seemingly the same as the ones featured in cooking knives.
TMZ reported that according to multiple sources, Spears has a fascination with knives, keeping them "all around the house—including the bedroom." A source noted that she "was paranoid someone was going to get her, and she needed the knives as protection." The same claims were shared in the tabloid's documentary about the pop star, Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom.
