Britney Spears' Dad Jamie Hospitalized After Becoming 'Severely Ill'

Britney Spears' dad Jamie was hospitalized after falling ill with a severe bacterial infection earlier in the week.
A source told Page Six on Oct. 5 that the pop icon's estranged father "has been suffering with a bad infection that has required surgery. He has been hospitalized for weeks in a special infectious disease facility."
At the time, another source close to the family told the tabloid that he was "severely ill."
However, on Oct. 6, People confirmed that Jamie is currently on the mend, but remains in the aforementioned facility.
The news comes nearly two months after TMZ reported that Britney was "seriously talking about reconciling" with her father while he's been ill and "doesn't want the regret of waiting too long."
The publication noted that Jamie had been hospitalized months prior when doctors believed he was experiencing kidney issues. Instead, what was found is that during his knee replacement surgery 16 years ago, he developed an infection.
Sources also told TMZ that Jamie would "love a reconciliation with his daughter" and "never harbored ill will toward her, despite all the things Britney said about him both in and out of court" while asking for her conservatorship to end in 2021.
It remains unconfirmed whether Britney has reached out to Jamie while he's been ill. In the wake of his hospitalization, the singer shared a since-deleted video of herself dancing on a private plane. A source told TMZ that she took a group of friends on a getaway to French Polynesia over the weekend.
