Britney Spears's no-makeup Monday includes mascara

It’s always inspiring when celebrities participate in #NoMakeupMonday. It gives us a rare opportunity to see our idols unfiltered and fresh-faced. Or, leftover-makeup-faced … at least when it comes to Britney Spears.

The performer posted a series of photos on Instagram yesterday with the caption, “On days where I don’t get primped and made up for my show, this is the real unglammed me… so nice to meet all of you!! I call this my morning coffee at home look ??”

We were pretty surprised to see Spears being so vulnerable, especially since she admitted to loving Snapchat because those filters make “you feel pretty!”

The star’s messy hair and freckled face is untouched, and she still looked stunning. But the first thing we noticed — after picking our jaws up off the floor in reaction to how natural a beauty she is after all these years — was a very obvious smudge of mascara under both of her eyes. While she didn’t cop to this right away, she added this to her caption: “#NoMakeupMonday if you don’t count the leftover mascara under my right eye… ”

It’s definitely under the left eye, too. But we’re not judging. The point is, she took this photo before getting dolled up for the day, and that takes a lot of courage. In fact, it took more courage to post a leftover-makeup selfie than to post a makeup-free one; yesterday’s makeup doesn’t look good on anyone — well, except Britney Spears.
