We can all learn a thing or two from classic Britney Spears (namely, how to convince your boyfriend to coordinate with you in head-to-toe denim). But the iconography of her past notwithstanding, modern day Brit would like to issue a timely lyric change to one of her oldest hits.

While celebrating World Health Day on Tuesday, Spears shared an illustration by Patricia Urrutia of herself in her “... Baby One More Time” music video look holding a bottle of Purell, the lyrics “My loneliness is killing me” revised to read “My loneliness is saving me!”

“Enough said,” Spears’s caption read, “and thank you to all of the healthcare workers tirelessly working to keep us safe during this time !!!! #WorldHealthDay #ThanksHealthHeroes."

Illustrated Britney speaks the truth — social distancing is key to saving yourself (and others!) from contracting and continuing to spread coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition to saving her, social distancing has also given Spears a chance to experiment with “early Victorian style.”

The coronavirus pandemic is unfolding in real time, and guidelines change by the minute. We promise to give you the latest information at time of publishing, but please refer to the CDC and WHO for updates.
