Britney Spears reflects on seeing her sons growing up: 'So bittersweet to see them get older'
Britney Spears is one proud mom.
The pop star, 39, took to Instagram over the weekend to share some old photos of herself with her two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15, from when they were younger.
In the throwback photos, Spears can be seen enjoying a beach vacation with her sons. The first photo shows her holding one of the boys in her arms, while the third shows her drying them off after a swim. The second photo shows Sean Preston and Jayden joyfully running along the sand together in their swim trunks.
"So bittersweet to see them get older," wrote the emotional Spears. "Why can’t they just stay babies forever??? They will always be MINE."
Last month after celebrating their recent birthdays, Spears spoke about her "very private" sons from her marriage to ex-husband Kevin Federline, whom she wed in 2004 before divorcing in 2007. Spears explained how her sons have desire for independence outside of their mother's fame.
"Unfortunately they are growing up and want to do their own things," Spears wrote, along with a photo of a quote that read "there is nothing stronger than the love between a mother and son." "I have to ask their permission to post them because they are extremely independent little men."
She shared that she is proud of the young men they have become.
"I will tell you they are both extremely talented and I’m so incredibly blessed to have these two little men in my life," wrote Spears. "I love you two little devils so much."
Generally social media-shy, Sean Preston and Jayden last made an appearance on their mother's Instagram account back in March.
"It’s so crazy how time flies .... My boys are so big now!!!!" Spears wrote at the time. "It’s very hard for any mama especially a mama with boys seeing them grow up so fast!!!! Talk about enough to make you go to your knees ... GEEZ!!!!"
Spears continued, sharing that the boys tend to avoid making appearances on their famous mom's account, because they want to "express their own identities."
"I’m extremely lucky because my two babies are such gentleman and so kind that I must have done something right!!!! I haven’t posted pictures of them for some time 'cause they’re at the age where they want to express their own identities and I totally get it. But I went out of my way to make this cool edit, and guess what," she wrote. "They’re finally letting me post it!!!"
