Brooklyn's Blue Park Refurbished by Tony Hawk's Foundation and Vans to Open

Just the facts, ma'am: "Community members, advocates and skaters will gather on Sunday July 16 to celebrate the opening of New York City’s newly renovated skatepark, Blue Park. Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Martin Maher and Councilmember Jennifer Gutiérrez will join the East Williamsburg community to mark the official reopening of Blue Park within Martinez Playground.

WHAT: Grand re-opening of Blue Park, marking the first opportunity for local skaters to use the refurbished skate obstacles.

"The renovated skatepark includes a set of safe concrete obstacles which honor the original obstacles created by the local community.

In addition to the three new skateboarding obstacles in Blue Park, the larger area of Martinez Park received key refurbishments to honor how the local community continues to use the space. The renovated park features new basketball equipment, a safety walkway, repainted picnic tables, benches made from recycled materials and more."
