Bruce Willis' Wife Shares Touching Tribute on the Actor's 69th Birthday
Bruce Willis has stayed out of the limelight since he officially retired from acting two years ago in March 2022 after being diagnosed with the cognitive disorder aphasia, which affects language expression and comprehension. A year later, the actor's family revealed that he had since been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, but have continued to provide fans with updates on his condition.
As such, Willis' wife Emma Heming Willis marked his 69th birthday on March 19 by posting a touching tribute to her husband of 15 years on Instagram.
"Just like you, we simply adore him," the 45-year-old model wrote, alongside a throwback photo of Willis cradling one of the couple's two daughters as a baby. "What you might not know, but maybe you could imagine, that being wrapped in his arms is the safest place in this whole wide world."
"He’s a true gentleman. With so much love to give and share," she continued. "That’s what I get to see, his true core. I can tell you, it’s so pure and ever so good." Heming Willis concluded her post by wishing a happy birthday to her love, adding that he's "the gift that keeps giving."
Willis' family has famously maintained a united front throughout his heath battles, including his ex-wife Demi Moore, with who he shares his three adult daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah Willis. During an appearance on Andy Cohen's Radio Andy SiriusXM show earlier this year, Moore was asked what advice she would give to people who have family members living with dementia.
"I think the most important thing I could share is just to meet them where they’re at," Moore explained. "When you let go of who they’ve been or who you think they [should be], or who even you would like them to be, you can then really stay in the present and take in the joy and the love that is present and there for all that they are, not all that they’re not."
While Willis' condition is undoubtedly difficult for his family to cope with, it seems like advice they have certainly taken to heart.
