A Brussels Griffon Named Newton Won The National Dog Show
A Brussels Griffon named Newton won Best in Show at The National Dog Show presented by Purina and hosted by The Kennel Club of Philadelphia. At just 3-and-a-half-years old, Newton is already a decorated show dog with 22 Best in Show wins to his name.
After winning the toy group in the show broadcast on Thanksgiving Day, Newton went on to beat out Noah the Portuguese water dog, Anna the whippet, Timmy the English springer spaniel, Louie the American Staffordshire terrier, Babe the French bulldog and Sophia the old English sheepdog to win Best in Show.
While Newton celebrated his group win with a little bit of steak, Newton's handler, Susan DePew, said he'd cool off with a little bit of ice cream as a reward for winning Best in Show.
Noah the Portuguese water dog finished second with the reserve best-in-show title.
Over 2,000 dogs entered the 16th annual National Dog Show presented by Purina, in over 150 registered breeds and varieties. Newton is the first of his breed to win the show since NBC Sports started broadcasting it on Thanksgiving Day and rebranded it The National Dog Show in 2002.
