Bvlgari Announces Plans for a New Luxury Hotel in Rome
Bvlgari has announced the opening of a brand-new luxury hotel in its hometown of Rome in 2022. This property lies in the heart of the Carrio Marzio neighborhood, near the signature Bvlgari flagship and many of the city's most popular landmarks.
Italian architecture firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel is in charge of transforming the stunning 1930s building originally designed by Italian Rationalist architect Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo, which will house 100 rooms and suites in total. The structure features frescoes by Antonio Barrera, a nearly 650-square-foot mosaic by Ferruccio Ferrazzi, and an inscription on the building's facade that reads, “This is the place where the Emperor Augustus’ soul flies through the air." Imperial Rome and the legacy of Emperor Augustus is one of the driving forces behind the design of this stately hotel.
Bvlgari Hotel Roma will feature one-of-a-kind amenities, such as a Reading Room, with an impressive collection of volumes dedicated to the history of jewelry. It will also feature a state-0f-the-art gym with Bvlgari's exclusive Workshop training method and a high-end spa. And no trip to Italy is complete without a life-changing dining experience, and the hotel's Il Ristorante, led by Michelin-starred chef Niko Romito, and The Bvlgari Bar, featuring impeccable city views, are sure to dazzle.
This project is dear to the brand's heart, as the jewelry maison is based in Rome, and the company is celebrating in fashion with a brand-new necklace. The Ospitalità Italiana necklace is studded with gems symbolic of the 10 hotels Bvlgari plans to have opened in the next three years. Purple was the signature color of Imperial Rome, making it a natural choice to represent the city.
Bvlgari currently has six hotels around the world—Milan, London, Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai, and Bali—with three other hotels in the works. The luxury brand plans to open Bvlgari Hotel Paris in 2021 and Moscow and Tokyo in 2023.
