Burger King employee filmed cleaning tables with mop used on the floor
Burger King is condemning the actions of one of its employees after a Florida mother caught video of the man cleaning the restaurant’s table tops with the same mop he used on the floor.
Katie Duran had just been eating at the Fruit Cove Burger King with her family on Thursday night before she saw how one of the employees cleaned up after them. According to News4JAX, she took a video as soon as she saw the employee pick the mop up from the floor to then wipe off the tables in the restaurant’s play area.
“I had just eaten on that table,” Duran told the news outlet. “Did you do that yesterday? Do you do this every night? Did you do this this morning?”
Duran sent the video to corporate to express her upset and confusion. The issue was then forwarded to the correct management team.
Burger King has since provided Yahoo Lifestyle with the following statement: “The action depicted in the video is unacceptable and not in line with our brand standards or operational procedures. We have strict protocols around cleanliness and food safety. The restaurant owner will be re-training his team on all operational protocols.”
Yahoo Lifestyle was unable to get in touch with Duran. However, she told News4JAX that she planned on writing reviews on Burger King’s pages. According to the outlet, the same location was cited for eight violations in February, including mold in the kitchen vents and food residue in the freezer.
