Burger King Will Pay You One Million Dollars To Create A New Whopper
Grab your apron and fire up the grill, because Burger King is planning to award $1 million to the person who creates the most scrumptious new Whopper. But no, you don't have to take Instagram-worthy photos to participate.
All you need to do is visit the Million Dollar Whopper website and type in your favorite ingredients, and an AI-generated image of your original burger will appear. Burger King is taking entries until March 17.
Burger King’s Chief Marketing Officer Pat O’Toole told WFLA News Channel 8 that the contest embodies Burger King’s spirit to "Have It Your Way."
“More than 50% of Guests customize their Whopper sandwich, and now, the possibilities of what those customizations include are endless,” O’Toole said.
There are a few rules, like your sandwich has to be entirely edible (go figure) and can't contain peanuts or crustaceans. Each sandwich starts with a flame-grilled beef burger or a plant-based Impossible patty, then goes from there. You can add up to eight ingredients on your sesame seed bun, and submit up to three entries.
If you're wondering what makes a winning combination, just remember this is something that has to be put together in a Burger King kitchen and sound appetizing, while also standing out from the crowd.
"Burger King will assess the Whopper Ideas based on feasibility, popularity, and innovation, and select three Whopper Ideas, each with a distinctive build, as Million Dollar Whopper Contenders," the contest rules state.
Even if you don't think you have a million-dollar-idea, you still can use the BK app on your phone to claim a free Whopper when you enter (the rules require making a $1 purchase at Burger King).
In May, three finalists will be invited to Burger King headquarters in Miami, Florida to create restaurant-ready sandwiches that will be sold at participating restaurants for a limited time. The public will vote on the new Whoppers and choose a winner. While we imagine you'll be vying for the $1 million cash prize, the second and third-place prizes ($200,000 and $100,000) sound mouthwateringly good too.
