Burger King Releasing a Red and Black Whopper for a Limited Time
In anticipation of the upcoming Spider-Man film, Burger King caught a few new menu items in its web.
The fan-favorite fast-food joint announced an all-new take on its beloved Whopper, inspired by the iconic web-slinger and featuring a red bun topped with black sesame seeds, melted Swiss cheese, and all the traditional Whopper toppings–including tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, crunchy pickles, and sliced white onions.
Available at participating restaurants nationwide from May 15 through June 21, guests are invited to try the "Spider-Verse" Whopper their way by adding any of the custom options, like crispy bacon, which Burger King said could potentially create as "many combination possibilities as there are Spider-Verses."
Along with the "Spider-Verse" Whopper, the burger house revealed it would also launch a "Spider-Verse" Sundae, which features soft serve ice cream topped with black and red chocolate popping candies.

"Like the infinite number of universes that can be explored in the next installment of the award-winning Spider-Man franchise, Burger King fans can discover new and exciting ways to customize the 'Spider-Verse' menu items," said chief marketing officer of Burger King North America, Pat O’Toole. "This co-promotion allows us to bring the best of both worlds together, creating countless possibilities for guests to have it their way and rule their Spider-Verse."
Diners looking to fully submerse themselves in the world of the classic comic book character are in luck. Select locations across the globe (including one in Astoria, Queens; France; United Arab Emirates; and Brazil) are said to have been transformed with interactive designs that place guests and fans inside the action-packed Spider-Verse–both inside the restaurant and drive-thru–and offer "Instagram-able" areas.
"Burger King is an iconic and global brand, making them the perfect partner for our Spider-Verse film," said EVP of global partnerships & brand management and head of location based entertainment at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Jeffrey Godsick. "Their passion for great creative has led them to come up with fun and imaginative activations that will allow fans to be able to swing into select local Burger King restaurants and immerse themselves in the 'Spider-Verse.'"
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will swing into theaters nationwide on June 2.
