Burger King Is Releasing a Royal Wedding Sandwich (With Two Symbolic Onion Rings)
Now you can practically taste the union between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with this delightful new sandwich from Burger King.
Days before the royal wedding, the fast food chain announced on Wednesday, May 16, that it’s selling a special version of the Chicken Royale sandwich dubbed “the American Royale.” The sandwich itself features a tender piece of chicken topped by iceberg lettuce, and barbecue sauce. Symbolically, the mouthwatering burger includes two onion rings to celebrate the marriage between Meghan and Harry.
“We know how popular our Chicken Royale sandwich is and these additional twists will bring just as much joy to our guests on this special day!” the head of brand and communications at Burger King UK said in a press release.
The sandwich will be sold for only £1.99 ($2.68) until May 20, the morning after the royal wedding. The unfortunate news, though, is that it’s only available in the U.K.
However, for the rest of us, numerous brands are capitalizing on the big day—arguably the society event of the year. Whether it’s Strongbow’s cider twist on rosé or SodaStream’s special-edition royal wedding water bottles, the beverage companies are certainly releasing fresh takes on the traditional drink options beyond tea.
Other fast food favorites and brands to join the wedding craze include KFC with its royal wedding-specific chicken buckets, Dunkin’ Donuts’ “Royal Love Donut,” and Velveeta’s limited-edition mac and cheese dubbed “Crowns and Cheese.”
